Job Title:                         Director of Operations

Basic Function:

Our growing Operations Services Practice Area is seeking an experienced Director of Operations who can collaborate with OS Practice Area and field Management to create budgets and develop business and operations plans. The Director of Operations will also be responsible for helping to update, develop, implement and enforce operational policies & procedures. The ideal candidate for this position possesses proven leadership skills, as well as a strong ability to problem solve and make sound decisions that encourage corporate growth.  The primary areas the Director of Operations will oversee include, but not limited to:


  • Airport Food & Beverage Concessions
  • Valet/Parking Services
  • Facility Management Services
  • Rental Car Prep & Shuttle Operations
  • Misc. Airport Operations Services

The position will be located in the Jacobsen|Daniels office in St. Louis, MO

Primary Accountabilities:

  1. Improve the business processes for each field operations through analysis and collaboration
  2. Collaborate with OS Practice Area management to develop financial plans
  3. Collaborate with support functions such as human resources, payroll, accounting and make recommendations for improvement
  4. Work with OS Practice Area and field Management to develop budgets
  5. Act as responsible individual for the approval of significant operational expenses
  6. On-going, day-to-day support of field Management
  7. Management and oversight of all OS recruiting efforts
  8. Development and on-going maintenance of all SOPs
  9. Elevate critical issues and concerns to the VP of the OS 
  10. Oversight for all new operational start-ups – may require being on-site for weeks at a time to stand-up a new operations
  11. Back-fill for field Management for temporary or emergency situations
  12. Conduct policy & procedure audits – review all policy & procedures, identify holes in our game, work with HR to implement fixes
  13. Perform operational audits – identify holes in our game, develop solutions, implement new policies & procedures - two site visits per location per year
  14. Lead Trainer for all OS operations – coordinate with Corp. HR to develop and conduct on-going employee training – minimum of two on-site (or webinar) training sessions per location per year
  15. Research, recommend and oversee the implementation of new systems, technologies, and alternative methods of efficiency 
  16. Participate in the preparation of OS proposals



  1. Direct and train/oversee staff in the performance of duties
  2. Interact with OS Practice Area and firm leadership to determine project and corporate priorities and develop strategies for execution of work
  3. Meet defined productivity targets and direct staff under your supervision to do the same
  4. Communicate with staff regarding OS and corporate priorities and strategies
  5. Assist field Management with job administrative functions including, but limited to:
    • Field management and employee staffing plans
    • Employee point system tracking
    • Manage all damage claims for valet operations
    • Vendor relationships and placement of orders
    • Control and reconciliation of the OS operating expenses
    • Field compliance with OSHA, spill prevention & containment, fire suppression, evacuation and emergency response plans
    • Handle Step II and III grievance procedures including hearings and responses
    • Prepare, present and defend cases to the Industrial Board
    • Labor relations agreements and negotiations



  1. Solicit clients for the firm
  2. Oversee the hiring of OS field Management and Staff for the firm
  3. Participate in the strategic and business planning process for the OS Practice Area
  4. Engage in and embrace the corporate culture and company values (Growth, Professional Development, Diversity, Customer Focus, and Teamwork)
  5. Participate on one of the seven (7) Corporate Committees (Finance & Investment, Internship Program, Cultural & Social Responsibility, Social Media, Industry Participation, Marketing & Communication)


Desired Qualifications:

Ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.  Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in operations management or related field and 10+ years of progressively increasing responsibility.  Management experience with union labor is highly desired including in-depth knowledge of union labor relations and collective bargaining agreements.  An understanding of food & beverage, parking, and facility management is a plus.  Strong verbal and written communication abilities, effective decision making skills and experience with developing budgets and writing business plans and proposals.

Working Conditions:

Primarily in an office environment, but travel up to 50% of the time may be required, depending on needs of the client or field operations.  Periodic weekend and evening work is anticipated.

Supervisory Responsibility:

All field Management for OS contracts


Salary Range:

$90,000 to $110,000
